Hannah Cresswell grew up in Staffordshire and started playing the flute from a young age. She went on to study Music at The University of Nottingham, having lessons with Dana Morgan and performing public recitals with pianist Antony Clare.

Having gained a First Class degree, Hannah went on to study as a postgraduate flute student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Dana Morgan, Anna Pope, Anna Noakes and Christopher Green (piccolo). At Trinity, she participated in side-by-side projects with professional orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Welsh National Opera.

Hannah has won various awards and prizes for her playing including an EMI Music Sound Foundation Award (2014), a University of Nottingham Music Scholarship for Performance (2015), a scholarship bursary to study at the Malvern Winds chamber music course with wind ensemble Cuillin Sound (2014), an award from the Yorkshire Ladies' Council of Education to support her studies at Trinity Laban (2016-18), and a Commended place on the Flutes in Tuscany course (2018).

She has played in masterclasses for top flute players including Wissam Boustany, Michael Cox, Ian Clarke, Julien Beaudiment and Mary Karen Clardy.

Hannah enjoys a variety of music-making. Most recently, she was Principal Flute for the Amadeus Orchestra Academy (July 2019), one of the world’s foremost training orchestras for young professionals and music students. She has held a woodwind chair with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra and has also worked with flute ensemble The Silver Pencils, who specialise in the performance of new compositions, improvisation and graphic scores.

This year has seen Hannah form a flute and piano duo with pianist Constance Chow; they have a busy calendar of upcoming recitals and concerts and have performed at venues including Leicester Cathedral and St George the Martyr (Southwark). Hannah and Constance also perform together for the charity Music in Hospitals and Care, giving concerts for people who would not normally have access to live music.

Hannah has a strong passion for music education and currently teaches flute students at Leicester Grammar School and Wellingborough School.
